MISSION STATEMENT

“To design environments using strategies that incorporate stormwater to create innovative, resourceful, and compatible spaces for people, plants, and wildlife that enhance community and socio-economic well-being.”

PHILOSOPHY

Ecological Design Group, Inc. is a small business by choice, recognizing its passion and commitment to the re-connectivity of our community to the landscape. Over the past century our natural ecological systems have been fragmented due to development and the introduction of industrial agriculture. The seamless connectivity from one system to another no longer exists and has been replaced by sterile environments requiring an abundance of energy and natural resources to maintain. Our goal is to create innovative outdoor spaces which re-connect the environment with the social, cultural and political aspects of our society. Our designs utilize one of our greatest natural resources “water” as a common thread for existence regarding all life.  With the incorporation of storm water driving site design along with the principles of ecology, our outdoor spaces are responsible environments with a safe, functional and appealing public aesthetic. Our projects foster healthy, balanced relationships between people and their environment while adapting to change over time and requiring only minimal and economical maintenance.

Ecological Design Group’s approach to civil engineering design is progressive, innovative, and environmentally focused. EDG collaborates with other disciplines to generate design solutions that integrate the site with the architecture.  EDG studies each site and its ecology, and produces designs that improve the built environment and function responsibly; reflective of the natural environment. These designs are achieved through the use of low impact development and sustainable design techniques that are ecologically based and sensitive to local conditions. EDG is dedicated to developing environmentally responsible infrastructure that has multiple functions, is sustainable, and minimizes impact to the natural hydrology and aesthetic of the site. EDG is also committed to the creation of cost effective and low maintenance designs that are not only environmentally sustainable, but are financially responsible for the owner and end user.
